小球状或细圆柱状，疣突细小螺旋状排列。刺细小，白色，几乎完全包住球体。小花漏斗状，白或粉红色。红色浆果棍棒状，非常艳丽。仅2种，变种较多。原产地墨西哥北部。可以全天晒太阳，最低温度能忍受-7摄氏度。
