第一个发现Opuntia compressa并命名的是J.F. Macbr，后来其他人又发现了9种，其中有1种是多人发现的，另外8种作为Opuntia compressa的变种。历史上，国外为Opuntia compressa争论几十年。后来借助了电子显微镜才停止争论。原来的10种，被分类到5个种里面。

1、Opuntia ammophila Small
异名：Opuntia compressa J.F. Macbr. var. ammophila (Small) L.D. Benson

2、Opuntia austrina Small
异名：Opuntia compressa J.F. Macbr. var. austrina (Small) L.D. Benson

3、Opuntia ficus-indica (L.) Mill.
异名：puntia compressa J.F. Macbr.

4、Opuntia humifusa (Raf.) Raf.
异名：Opuntia compressa auct. non J.F. Macbr.
      Opuntia compressa J.F. Macbr. var. allairei (Griffiths) D. Weniger, nom. nud.
      Opuntia compressa J.F. Macbr. var. fuscoatra (Engelm.) D. Weniger, nom. nud.
      Opuntia compressa J.F. Macbr. var. microsperma (Engelm. & Bigelow) L.D. Benson
5、Opuntia macrorhiza Engelm. var. macrorhiza twistspine pricklypear
异名：Opuntia compressa J.F. Macbr. var. grandiflora (Engelm.) D. Weniger, nom. nud.
            Opuntia compressa J.F. Macbr. var. macrorhiza (Engelm.) L.D. Benson
            Opuntia compressa J.F. Macbr. var. stenochila (Engelm.) D. Weniger, nom. nud.
由于各种原因，国内外很多网站都还在延续Opuntia compressa，很容易使读者混淆。我也是昨天查资料。但是有一点还没有明白：作为嫁接砧木，用的是哪一个？

Opuntia humifusa graft
One page I’ve enjoyed reading is called Grafting on Opuntia compressa; it is provided by the Cactus Art Nursery. They offer a great series of photos showing how to use Opuntia compressa (= O. humifusa) as a root stock. It is an informative, well done page. Opuntia compressa is an excellent rootstock because it tolerates cold and wetness with ease.
The Cactus and Succulent Society of Israel also has a Web page on grafting.
Another source for information is from the Journal of the Professional Association of Cactus Development. The article is clear and easy to read; it is called “Cactus Grafting Methods.”
